Domaine François Galeyrand — Organic Winemaker from Bugey, Ain

ORGANIC WINEMAKER · BUGEY · AIN

The Estate

Domaine Francois Galeyrand produces organic wines in the heart of Bugey, in the Ain department of France. Located in Andert-et-Condon, between Lyon and Geneva, the organic vineyard stretches across the pristine hillsides of this exceptional terroir in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region.
On these clay-limestone and glacial moraine soils, at altitudes ranging from 250 to 500 metres, Francois passionately cultivates the hallmark grape varieties of the Bugey terroir: Chardonnay, Aligote, Mondeuse and Gamay. The vineyard enjoys a unique microclimate, shaped by both Alpine and Rhone Valley influences.
Certified organic since 2024, the estate follows a biodynamic approach using preparations 500 and 501. Hand-harvested grapes, natural winemaking with indigenous yeasts, and extended ageing in oak barrels.

The Winemaker

« I want my wines to reflect what nature offers us, with sincerity and without artifice. »
Francois Galeyrand represents a new generation of committed organic winemakers. Trained in Burgundy, on the Cote de Nuit, then enriched by experience at several renowned estates, he chose to settle in Bugey, drawn by the untapped potential of this lesser-known terroir in the Ain department, between the Jura and Savoie mountains.
His philosophy: biodynamic viticulture in the vineyard and natural winemaking in the cellar. Indigenous yeasts, minimal intervention — letting the fruit and terroir speak for themselves.
Hand-harvested grapes, fermentation with indigenous yeasts, patient ageing in oak barrels — every step is designed to reveal the best of each vintage.
